SK1N 0N SK1N

I finished up my senior collection a week ago.  It's five looks total, and everything is in this post.  I don't know how others school work, but at my school we personally pattern and sew every single garment we design.  The artwork is not my own, but I did personally collage all the images together for the prints.  The show is at the end of this month, but I will not know if I'm in or out until two weeks from now.  The photos are arranged by look (jacket, top, skirt).  Obviously that blue houndstooth dress is the black sheep... I changed directions in the process of creating this collection so many times that this dress, the first piece I completed, looks almost like a neanderthal next to modern man.  In a larger group I could have integrated this dress successfully, but a five look collection has to be extremely tight.

  1. I need the purple fur. NEED. Even if your stuff doesn't get picked, feel very proud. I'm pretty sure no one else had the balls to do hentai prints or a blue fur shift dress.

  3. The hair in the skirt! I did something like that with hair cut from a wig on a dress for a kindergarten teacher to wear to an auction! I love the blue fur dress!!! I also think the anime print is really cool.

  8. Your senior collection is just WONDERFUL (although i'm not fan of the violet faux furr coat on the 1st pic).
All the anime prints are géniales. And the hair ! Such a wonder ! ;)

  10. It sucks that your collection was cut from the final show because your work is really current and of this generation. Obviously the judges are quite out of the loop- which will ultimately be their problem not yours. I know loads of people would love this collection!

  11. Yes! It's sad knowing there is a place in the world for what I spent *nine months* working on, and the faculty at my school refused to back me up when things got rough. I'm grateful to everyone who has supported me and my work!!

PRABAL GURUNG
"Androgynous Pratt student documents his outfits that run the gamut from everyday college kid to flamboyant club kid. Anyone who throws on a pair of Balenciaga platforms or 9" fetish stilettos to cheer himself up is pretty awesome and entertaining in our opinion!"

TOPSHOP INSIDE-OUT BLOG
"Dressing up is what William loves to do most. This young designer from New York doesn’t dress for fashion but just to have fun and enjoy himself like the big kid that he is. Both adorned as a man and woman, his blog isn’t your common “check-out-my-outfit” type blog. It’s a journey into NYC’s crazy nightlife with party outfits straight from the young creative/transvestite scene. Juggling Timberland homemade platforms, tie-dye t-shirts, camo baggy trousers and an orange furry jacket, his looks are absolutely bonkers-awesom, leaving us wanting more everytime. We strongly recommend that you check out his collection too . Made from Japanese anime babe-printed fabric, it’s pretty darn cool."

LYNN & HORST
"I strongly believe in the comeback of Manga and will further explore its use in contemporary art and fashion. Most probably, 'sexualization' will become a core motif. In the first instance, I'd like to draw your attention to the reanimation of Anime by Dripping Lazers."
